Dragon: A Fast Word Based Stream Cipher
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents Dragon, a new stream cipher constructed using a single word based non-linear feedback shift register and a nonlinear filter function with memory. Dragon uses a variable length key and initialisation vector of 128 or 256 bits, and produces 64 bits of keystream per iteration. At the heart of Dragon are two highly optimised 8 × 32 s-boxes. Dragon uses simple operations on 32-bit words to provide a high degree of efficiency in a wide variety of environments, making it highly competitive when compared with other word based stream ciphers. The components of Dragon are designed to resist all known attacks.

Dragon-MAC: Securing Wireless Sensor Networks with Authenticated Encryption
Sensor networks offer economically viable monitoring solutions for a wide variety of applications. In order to combat the security threats that sensor networks are exposed to, a cryptography protocol is implemented at sensor nodes for point-to-point encryption between nodes. Disclosure, disruption and deception threats can be defeated by authenticating data sources as well as encrypting data in...
متن کاملA Stream Cipher Based on Chaotic Permutations
In this paper we introduce a word-based stream cipher consisting of a chaotic part operating as a chaotic permutation and a linear part, both of which designed on a finite field. We will show that this system can operate in both synchronized and self-synchronized modes. More specifically, we show that in the self-synchronized mode the stream cipher has a receiver operating as an unknown input o...
متن کاملAttack the Dragon
Dragon is a word oriented stream cipher submitted to the ECRYPT project, it operates on key sizes of 128 and 256 bits. The original idea of the design is to use a nonlinear feedback shift register (NLFSR) and a linear part (counter), combined by a filter function to generate a new state of the NLFSR and produce the keystream. The internal state of the cipher is 1088 bits, i.e., any kinds of TMD...
متن کاملHash Function Designs Based on Stream Ciphers
Hash functions are fundamental components of many cryptographic applications. Due to the recent attacks on classical designs, alternative design approaches are proposed. In this paper, we give a survey for hash function constructions based stream ciphers mainly concentrating on Panama, RadioGatún and RC4-hash. Also, we propose an example hash function Dragon-Hash based on the stream cipher Dragon.
متن کاملAn Improved Distinguisher for Dragon
The Dragon stream cipher is one of the focus ciphers which have reached Phase 2 of the eSTREAM project. In this paper, we present a new method of building a linear distinguisher for Dragon. The distinguisher is constructed by exploiting the biases of two S-boxes and the modular addition which are basic components of the nonlinear function F . The bias of the distinguisher is estimated to be aro...
